raynox 150 and 250 convertor help with panasonic fz18

which one is best and do i need to use tripod with any of them im looking for the best one hoping not to need a tripod

Seriously, depends on what you actually want to do with them and how close you want to "get"

The dcr-150 is a 4.8 diopter and the dcr-250 is an 8 diopter, to see the difference look at http://raynox.co.jp/comparison/digit...z18.htm#dcr150

The higher the diopter the trickier they tend to be to use, as the depth of field becomes razor thin (the amount of the subject in focus is very very very thin), so starting macro work with a high power lens might well discourage you.

With the 250 you are almost certainly going to need a tripod or a lot of patience and a few hundred blurry shots before you get a good one.

In fact both are quite powerful for beginners, you may want to consider the Canon 500d ( 2 diopter ) as a beginning close up lens.
