Default Tele converter for a non-zoom digital camera?

I have an Epson PhotoPC 650 that I got really cheap. I'd like to get a teleconverter in the 2-3x range (it has 37mm threads), the problem I've run into is severe vignetting -- the camera does not zoom, and has the equivalent of a 39mm lens, pretty wide view. I've tried a Sima 2x (37mm), which blocked the corners, and some Sony 2x (52mm with adapter ring) lens which was like looking through a tube. (And magnified a lot more than the Sima 2x . . . hmm . . .)

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced telephoto converter that's likely to work without obscuring the corners of the image?

The one sima 2x lens that I have seen apears to be identical to the kenko sgt-20 that I have. I suspect that it is a kenko with their name on it. It has magnification comparible to another 1.5x lens that I have. I have two 2x lenses that have more magnification. It is not uncommon for cheaper lenses to have less actual magnification than they claim.
All of the teleconverters I have vinyette at wide angle (canon a40/a70). I would look at larger lenses like the tcon 17. It might by your only choice to avoid vinyetting. The size of the glass and design of the lens is what matters though, not the thread size. I have a 49mm teleconverter that vinyettes less than another that is 62mm.
