Default Sigma Zoom Lens Questions

I've got this posted in the Canon section as well.. I'm still looking for a little insight on getting a good zoom lens for sports shots. Below are the 2 lenses I'm looking at. Which would be the better option?

Sigma AF 4.0 100-300mm EX (HSM) w/ Sigma 1.4x TC
Sigma AF 2.8 70-200mm EX (HSM) w/ Sigma 2.0x TC

Most of my shots will be taken in larger football stadiums. Let's just say my seat will be 1/2 way up. Will the 300 just lose too much with the TC in capturing the action? Will the 200 with the TC get me close enough? I'm new and just trying to accumulate as much info as I can before making a big purchase. Thanks in advance.

Default Go with the 100-300mm and 1.4x...

The 100-300mm f4 with 1.4x teleconverter becomes a 420mm f5.6.
The 70-200mm f2.8 with 2x teleconverter becomes a 400mm f5.6.
So not only do you gain an extra 20mm focal length with the 100-300mm without lowering the aperture, but the overall image quality will be better because the 1.4x teleconverters tend to be sharper than the relatively soft 2x teleconverters.

Don't expect to much from either. You said 1/2 way up your not going to get "close up" pics if that is what you are after. they will be wide from that far away. When I shoot collage foortball im loaded with a 600mm on one camera and 80-200mm on the other and I am on the side lines. Good luck.
