Default Lens for Canon EOS 600D

I'm looking to buy a Canon 55-250 IS lens. But Canon has a new 55-200 IS II lens. Which is better? Comment and recommendations of other lenses are welcome. Thank you.

canon just announced the new lens. It's really not clear yet what they've done to it - whatever it is, I'm sure it will come with a price increase.

The specs for the new lens seem identical to the old lens. It's likely that the changes are entirely electronic and cosmetic.

I have the 55-250is and its a nice lens for the price light and easy to carry and is a good companion to go with the standard 18-55
