Default Olympus C-4000 and Tiffen MegaPlus telephoto converter

I just bought C-4000 and Tiffen MegaPlus x2 telephoto converter to go with it. I'm a bit worried about the hefty weight of the teleconverter (about 9 ounces/260 grams) distorting or warping the plastic lens housing of the camera body in the long run.

I'd appreciate hearing someone else's experience in this or thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

I have the Tiffen and a C3000, basically the same thing as C4000. I don't use a neckstrap, and usually carry the combo cradled in one hand. I nearly always use a tripod, therefor the lens is not supported, since the tripod is attached to the camera only. I have used both the Olympus CLA-1 adapter and the Tiffen adapter. No problems so far. Just be careful if using a light-duty ballhead and/or tripod, since the camera/lens is so unbalanced.

I also used the tiffen 2X with my 3000 for a while with no problems. I now use it wih my 5050 and its the same thing. Skiola is right about the ballheads.

I have the Raynox PRO1850 tele photo lens and have been using it since Nov 2002. I do not think there is any strain on the camera housing if you make sure the adpater is attached properly.
