I visited your web-site. The nature pictures are most appealing, with beautiful compositions. Very pleasing

So you´ve worked with information technology that many years. Perhaps you know Winton Cerf personally?

Is it true that the right spelling is "cerfing the Internet", not "surfing the Internet"? :-)

The verb "surf" seems to me to be the most incorrect word to describe, even "navigating" with a "cerf engine" would be more descriptive

Very interesting composition.

Red-orange-yellow-white globe on a blue metal lightpole in front of a dingy, dreary, old building with interesting architecture.

Thank you very much, TCav, for viewing and commenting. This is a crop. I wanted the globe in one of the four hot spots. Strange, these hot spots. Any idea?

While I'm not generally a big fan of the 'rule of thirds', I think you composed this shot very well. I don't think it would have worked as well if the globe appeared anywhere else in the frame.

BTW, why is this an "Evacuation area"?

Torgny,
....it was most kind of you to see and comment about my photo galleries. The Arlington nature preserve is within 10 minutes walking time of my home. It is not seen by many so I usually have it to myself when I am in there.

Nope, never met 'Winton' but did write my first mainframe program October, 1959 on an IBM 650 computer, then continued through March 2007 working in the world of large computers, never with the PCs. As for internet viewing, I wonder how / who started the term 'surfing the internet'.

Thank you for the nice statement,
