Dear Torgny.. You chose an appealing yet difficult point of view regarding the position of the sun, which calls for an HDR or a Polariser, at least!!I especilly liked the first two pictures inwhich the historical edifice is imbued by the the complimenting winter sun, however stark as the lines of Vladimir Mayokovsky: )

Really good shots there Torgny, I like the use of the light very good, I am glad you tried the jail window shot in B/W I too thought it would work, I tried it in b/w HDR with a little dodge & burn it turned out ok.

Thank you, bahadir. Hope you also appreciate the few pictures to come. They are from other angles and are necessary to get the whole view.

The castle was partly rebuilt/ornamented in the 18th century. I´m sure you can tell by the details...

If you have the time...

Thank you Alex. Perhaps it is the other way around - the light used me. I´ll take pictures of anything if the light is right, whatever that is

I envy you people who master the HDR technique and true black and white photo. In PS10 CS3 there is a new function under

Image

Adjustments

Black and white

with slides for different colours

but for me it is trial and error since I don´t know the "language to translate" colours to a greyscale

LetMysjkinPour some more tea : )Oh such a pleasure to share it there by the castle which dates backtotimes of Charles XII of Sweden, who, after a decisive battlewith the Russians, wassaved and hostedby the Ottomans for five years in Constantinopolis to play chess with the Emperor!, and meanwhile, to incite them to war against Tzar Petro the Great of Russia!

Cheers!
