Default Tulum Ruins

This is the Tulum Ruins in the Mayan Riviera area of Mexico. I took it while on vacation there in January of this year. I thought it looked like a postcard!

Very nice shot with a good composition.
But I'm not sure, what your "eyecatcher" is. At first my eyes fell on the cactus in the foreground. And the ruins in the background is lacking of interessting details.

One way to overcome both the cactus and the ruin is to walk away from the subjects (is possible) and then use the zoom on you digicam. This will pull in the ruin (and show details) and you can still have the cactus in the frame.
Many dont like a white sky, but this shot seems somehow clean to me, at therefore I think it fits.

This was taken in August 2002 with an APS camera (I didn't own a DigiCam at the time).

Nice - but my post was about going a loooooong way back and shot with a tele lens. The second pic is not in class with your first one.
Feel free to visit my website for picking up tips on i.e. landscape photographing.

Just to keep this straight, I did not take the second photo. It was taken by prmsekpr.

I like it, prmsekpr. It looks a bit like a desert.

Did you have a great vacation like we did?

Yep, had a great time, but if we did it all over again we probably would have not gone to Tulum. We did this as part of a Caribbean cruise. The ship was in Cozumel and we had to ferry to Playa Del Carmen and then take a bus to Tulum. We were only given a very short time at Tulum. I would have liked to have more time at the ruins.
