Default Downtown Chattanooga

I haven't taken many architectural photos, so during a trip to visit the Tennessee Aquarium with my wife, son and parents this past holiday weekend I decided to take a walk Saturday morning to snap a few. You'll notice that I took a liking to the Dome Building.

Almost forgot the Flatiron Building (yes that's the real name) and a black and white shot of the Dome Building.

Fine pictures, umdaman. Exciting light in this one. Could you tell us more?

I really, really like the light in the first one. It nicely isolates and presents your subject.

Torgny, the shot was taken about 8:30 in the morning. There was a building behind me with lots of windows. The lights you see in the photo are the sunlight reflecting off those windows. That's precisely why I took the shot. I'm glad someone noticed.

Barbarian, that's what drew me to the building for more pictures.

Thank you both for the comments.

One thing bothers me about your shots -- they don't show the base of the structures. For whatever reason, that makes them appear incomplete. Anyone else have that reaction?

Thanks,Walter and jelpee, for your comments.

Walter, except for shots 2 and 3, I had the same feeling about the photos when I first viewed them on the computer. Unfortunately it was too late to do anything about it. That's another thing I wondered if anyone would notice. As I said before, I haven't taken many architectural photos, so composition is something I have to be more mindful of in the future. How does this on grab you? I only have a few like this because I was trying to minimize any extraneous objects (light poles, traffic lights, etc) in the shots.

Hi,

I got this idea the other day to contact the "trafic authorities" and make them send a list where and when parking is forbidden for cleaning the streets. Over here it's two hours every forthnight

It would make it much easier to depict houses in their entirety. We really don't want cars in archtectural photo. I don't know anyone anyhow

For what it's worth
