Hi.

New here, but looks an interesting place.

Using Minolta DiMAGE A1, here's a shot of IWMNORTH I captured the other week.

The rest of the shoot is at:

Leon,

Good perspective, having trouble with lots of bright spots especially with left building, could be my screen. Cheers.

The old Imperial War Museum was one of my favorite places in the whole world. It was a musty old place with large rooms full of display cases. Then sometime in the 70s they modernized it. It became more like a walk-through History Channel show than the old museum.

It became a lot more popular, so I am obviously the odd man out in liking the old museum. They had probably a million things on display in those cases and around the museum – you couldn't see it all in a week. Most of it left to make room for the "new" Imperial War Museum. I hope some of it made it to the north annex.

slipe, i saw something on the news a while ago about the museums in London and they said they have more stuff in storage than they have on display. Maybe they should build more museums and get it all on display. :-)

My Turner book showed a large number of Turners in the British Museum – probably second only to the Tate. I found it odd that I had never seen them there and went to the art room looking for them. They had a great exhibition of over 200 of Albrecht Durer's stuff, but no Turners.

I asked the guard where the Turners were. He said "The Turners? Oh yes, we had them out about 3 years ago. If there are any you are particularly interested in the curator would be happy to show them to you". Say what! You have the world's second best collection of Turners and they are in the storeroom?

I was there once and the Rosetta Stone wasn't even on display. They were doing some renovations and it came back when they were through.

They have to keep changing stock or people get bored. They also have so much it is a waste not to show some of it yet keep the same stuff out on display. It would be a good idea to let people know what and when stuff will be coming out though.
