Christos!

Nice photo, but three thing comes to my mind:

1. too blurred - did you use a tripod ? The camera has to be near 100% static at nightshots.

2. Too much noise - expecially the sky. You can reduce that in an editor.

3. If you cut off the waterline, you will have a much better composition. The parliament will then lead the viewers eyes from right to left more easily.

I've been on that location several times now and the Parliament can be (weather dependant) quite difficult to shoot. The lights are very strong and most photos comes out like a huge gold-block. You did good however, with some minor mistakes.

Hi Klaus, thanks for comments!I find them really constructive.
i didnt have a tripod and on top of that i was on a moving boat..i would like it much sharper myself.
I ve tried different crops of the photo and thought of cutting the waterline, but didnt do it the end. Now that you have pointed it out, i can see what you mean and i agree.
i ve run the image on neat image3.0, but because the photo wasnt as sharp in the first place it turned out with a big loss in detail. I never managed to tune neat image as i would want it to work..
I have attached a revised version, tell me what you think.

regards

It was a beautiful photo to begin with, but the revised version is wonderful! Great job!

Yes, I understand the frustration of not having a tripod on hand. I have mine tucked safely away in my car for those 'just-in-case' incidents, since I bring my camera everywhere I go.

Thanks Jenni!
i took the photos from a boat and the fact that it was moving made it even worse for not having a tripod.
Unfortunately my girlfriend wouldnt let me carry a tripod
i dont blame her though,it was a black tie party.. and i was the only one all dressed up and having a camera/camera bag hanging off his neck..carry a tripod as well?:-):-)

Just claim the tripod is the "Newest and hippest fashion accessory!".. I think people would buy it!

Great shot you must have a steady hand!

I like the noise in the sky and the ever so slight blurring of the original. It adds a dynamism to the shot that would otherwise be lost. I agree with the composition point though - but all the same I'M LURVIN' IT

Gives me a great idea, a cane where the handle folds over revealing a tripod mount. Suitable for black tie, or whenever you are at the opera.

I really like the color in the first version, haven't made up my mind as to which composition i personally prefer. I always have been a bit of a sucker for night waves with colorful lights.
