Here are some shots of the remains of St Benet's Abbey which stand in a field, not far from my home. There is little left to see apart from part of a gatehouse and this was "recycled" in the 18th century by someone who decided to build a windmill into it !

Great stuff, John!

There's something sad about something beautiful of old being first recycled for something utilitarian and then abandoned altogether. Still, the shots are great. I especially like the close-up of the stonework.

A great look back in time. You are lucky to live in a country that preserves it's history instead of making room for WalMarts.
