This house sits on my families 400 acre farm in western Kentucky. It doesn't look like much, but it is a very interesting design and has been standing on the farm since the early 1800s. Inside are two spiral staircases that lead to the top floor. One side was for the boys and the other side was for the girls in the family. The family loom still resides in the top floor also.

Love the light on the wood, and the spring flowers.

Presumably it was a building just for weaving etc.? With those windows it doesn't look like a homestead.

Nope it was a full home. On the backside of the house is an extension that contains the kitchen. It really is interesting to imagine what it would have been like to live then.

About a decade ago my family looked into renovating it but the costs were astronomical. It will be a sad day when the house finally collapses in on itself .

Hi BdoUK,

:whack:is me! Not windows. Cladding has fallen off the uprights!!!

Do you have any drawing or painting of it, as it was originally, that you could photograph? We see so many lovely old ramshackled buildings on here, it would be great to see the 'before' too, if poss.
