I currently own a Nikon d70s with two EN-EL3a batteries. I am considering the purchase of a Nikon D80 and keeping my D70s as a back up.

Looking at the literature, the D80 uses the EN-EL3e battery. Is this battery interchangeable with the EN-EL3a battery used in the D70s and vice versa?

Thanks in advance.

I have been told that with these batteries=> With Nikons, "IF" you can use another cameras batteries you go forward not backward. In other words a D70 may take a D80's battery but a D80 wont take a D70's battery...

Don't quote me on that but that's what I was told...
