I just bought a Panasonic DMC-LZ7s point & shoot camera that uses "AA" batteries. Panasonic suggests using their OXYRIDE batteries. According to Panasonic they will last much longer then regular alkaline batterys. I just purchased 16 of then from Adarama for $24.00 which included shipping. I'm just wondering if they are really worth the expense.

No. Waste of money. You'll get more pictures out of one charge of rechargeable NiMH.

You'll get the most pictures per changeout from a set of Energizer L91 lithium ($10 for 4, disposable)

Get a set of 4 eneloop + charger for $20 from Wal-Mart. They retain charge like alkaline and you'll always have a spare set of batteries.
