In the Kodak forum I have posted some results on 'Rechargeable CR-V3' use as a subsitute for Kodak's recommended KLIC-8000 Li-ion rechargeable, at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=18.

If anyone here can cast any light on exactly what the difference is between the two battery types other than different locations of contacts, and different mAh capacity, I'd love to hear it. I suspect that there are voltage dropping components in the 'rechargeable CR-V3', because I can register a higher o/c voltage by using the contact used only by the charger than I can via the contacts used by the camera.

I surmise that such components are there to protect cameras from overvoltage from KLIC-8000, which the Z712 is designed to withstand, and that this effectively disables my battery-low indicator. Or maybe my camera's power regulationis faulty. Can anyone who really knows shed any light, please?
