I just bought a used Canon 1D and I think the batteries in the NP-E3 battery pack probably won't have much life left in them.
I was thinking about taking it apart and putting in new LSD (low self discharge) hybrid NiMH batteries.
Has anybody taken apart an NP-E3 battery pack?
Easy? Hard? Gotchas?
Anybody have a good deal on a Canon NC-E2 charger and/or NP-E3 battery packs?

I've taken an old one I have appart and it's fairly easy to do but in the end I'd suggest simply ordering an aftermarket pack and switching the canon battery cap onto it. They are so cheap that you can't really buy the new cells for much less than just getting a new aftermarket pack. Plus, you'll want tabbed cells to assemble into the canon pack not regular AA cells.

good luck.
