I am using a recyko charger with uniross battereies.

Unlike some chargers the lights do not go out on this model and I do not want to over charge them, how long do I charge them for?

Hello Mr Shift,

To determine the length of time to charge, you have to know a few things...

What the charge rate of your charger is,

What amount of capacity has been used up in your battery,

and What the efficiency is at the charge rate you are using.

Once you have this figured out, it comes down to basic math. You take the capacity you have used, multiply it by the charge efficiency ratio, and then divide it by the charge current.

For example: Let's suppose you used 1000 mAh of a 2000 mAh cell, and your charge rate is 1000 mA with an efficiency of 80%. In this case you would have to put 125% more into the cell than just what has been used.

We start with 1000 mA and multiply it by 1.25 to end up with 1250 mAh needed to fully charge the cell. Now we take the 1250 and divide it by the 1000 mA charging rate and we come up with 1.25 hours or 75 minutes.

The tricky part is figuring out how empty your battery is...
