Default My laptop won't work it has no power?

Can anyone help, i bought an mp4 and you use a cd to download it onto pc, so i did, but half way through reading instructions etc, my laptop suddenly went dead, i assused it was the battery so i plugged in power supply but nothing happened and hasn't since. when i try to power again it makes a little click noise and then does nothing, sometimes the battery power pack clicks when i wriggle it, but apart from that nothing.

I'd try removing the battery and cleaning the battery contacts, then reinsert it and it charge up for a while before you try turning the laptop on again. Some laptops won't power up unless they have enough current from the battery, even when using an A/C Adapter.

I have also run into cases where a bad battery was drawing enough current from the adapter, that the laptop wouldn't run with the battery in. (why does it get so hot when I'm not even using it?)
