I recently bought a Canon ZR-80 camcorder and the battery pack (BP-508) is crap...it only lasts about 40 minutes.

I was looking to buy a new one but realized that my Canon Digital Rebel BP-511 pack also fits on the camcorder. Is there a problem with buying a secondBP-511 and using it for both my Rebel and ZR-80? If not are there any other bi-compatible batteries I could purchase rather than buying two new ones.

Also, can I use the CB-5L charger that came with my Rebel to charge any BP-500 series batteries...such as the BP-522 or BP-512?

Thanks for any feedback.

I'm pretty sure that the answer to both questions is yes. I would check with Canon tech support about the battery charger but I'm pretty sure that it will handle any Li-ion battery that can slide onto it that's made by Canon. Those BP-511 packs kick some serious booty - great batteries.
