Has any website done an up to date shootout comparison of the latest NiMH battereies? The one available at Image Resources is already dated. Only covering cells with capcities up to 2300 mAh. Would like to see how the current crop of 2500 and 2700 mAh batteries stack up.
Perhaps Steve can do this shootout for us. ![]() |

You will be hard pressed to find better cells than the Sanyo 2700mAh. Sanyo makes more NiMH batteries than anyone else and anumber of the "other" brands are simply Sanyo OEM cells re-labelled.

Which brands are rebadged Sanyo's? And will you be doing a "shootout comparison" any time soon? Of course putting various 2500-2700 mAh cells head-to-head? Take care. And thanks altis for the link! Will have a look right now... |

The Sanyo branded 2700mAh batteries are hard to find, but the Duracell 2650mAh is the same to my knowledge (Marked Made in Japan, small artifacts identical to Sanyo 2700).
All new shipments of Duracell AA NiMHs are 2650 mAh and they're $10 for 4 or $16 for 8 at Wal-Mart. You might have to go to a few stores to find it, but if you can only find the 2,500mAh, its not a big loss. By spec, Sanyo 2700 should be able to delivery 2700mAh until flat if discharge rate is 0.54A. Lesser capacity with higher current. At 0.8A (simply because 0.54A would take too long to test), I tested one of 12 Duracell 2650mAh AA cells. At about 0.8A current, tested capacity was 2.59Ah. (2590mAh). ![]() |

Thanks for the info. I'll keep my eyes open for the Duracell 2650's you mentioned. Hopefully they won't be too hard to find. If I can't find them for some odd reason I'll order the Sanyo 2700's instead. Was planning to any ways. Along with the Powerex version. Have a good week! ![]() Found the Duracell 2300 mAh cells online. They run $24.95 CAD. That's almost $10.00 more than it would cost me to buy a 4-pack of Powerex 2700 mAh cells shipped! I think I'll just order some Powerex 2700's and maybe later some Sanyo 2700 mAh's. Surprised how much more expensive the Duracell's are. At least here in Toronto. |
