Here are two different approaches of photographing it. If you have not seen it in person it is really big.

Pentax *ist DS 1/180 sec f 9.5 18mm ISO 200 @ 6/01/06 Arlington, VA

They are both good shots, DAZ. I went up and down trying to pick a favorite but I think I like them the same. You could do with a bit more saturation, though. The colors are a little washed out (to my taste).

Wonderful shots, but I agree...play with the saturation and see the difference.

I like both shots but have to agree they look a bit "faded". Good work.

It was a very hazy summer day. The DC area gets like that. The sun was out but most of the time it did not cast a hard shadow. This was good in some ways as I could get the shadow detail but it did tend to mute the colors some. Seeing as the consensus seems to be for more color, and I to think it would look better with more, here is a little more.

Nice capture, I like the tight crop.

I don't know if it's my monitor, DAZ, but it seems like the first pictures have more contrast than the second attempt.

Opps. Sorry, you got me. When I reprocess for color I forgot to adjust contrast.
