They should have named it the Porcupine Predator with all those guns sticking out. Nice shot.

Great shot! Does anyone know how to read the signal flags? There is a message there, not just a random collection of flags. Although I was in the Navy for 9 1/2 years, I never learned the flags. I worked in the nuclear power plant below decks!. No flags there!

Cal, here is a site with the nautical alphabet...I get NEM, but am missing the last flag, my guess is maybe a W.

Calr,

Here's where a filter would help the sky. Nonetheless, the composition is very good.

Vanessa, with the clues you provided "NEM" and maybe a "W" I think the flags are sending a coded message to "Women."

Later in the day or earlier, a polarizer might have helped. However, from the angle of the shadows under the big guns, it apears that the sun was directly overhead so a polarizer would have little effect.

I love the new Sony lens although there is a learning curve. Obtaining a sharp image at 6 or 700mm is the trick. I am using a tripod, 10-second timer and fast shutter speed. The rest is up to AF or MF. Still working on that. Any advice would be great.
