Nice photo Chuck, although it could use some PP. Thanks for sharing.

Great photo!!!

I taught in a one room schoolhouse in a very small town in rural Vermont. The town had 4 buildings spread throughout the town. Kindergarten through 6th grade was serviced by the one room schoolhouses.

I had a huge stove that the president of the school board came in every morning and lit so the building was warm when the kids arrived. I got heat the second year.

No, I'm not aging myself, it wasnt that long ago! LOL

Hey BC, how about editing your profile and adding your location. The same applies to anybody else who hasn't done so. Just go to the top of the page and click on My Account.

This school room reminds me of two things. First, I started school in a two-room schoolhouse in rural northeast South Dakota. Grades 1-4 in one room and 5-8 in the other. There was no running water. Families took turns filling a large ceramic crock in the basement. The "sanitary" facilities were out behind the building.

Second, in the town of Burnaby, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver, there is a pioneer museum with actors acting out activities of pioneer times. There is a one room schoolhouse as part of the museum which looks very much like this photo. The one at Burnaby is about 50% larger than this one.

Great shot.

Cal
