Well, there could be a legitimate reason for it such as flammable fuel nearby. I have seen many locations where smoking is prohibited outside such as light rail stations and medical facilities.

Personally, I would be happy when they ban smoking outright. However, that would probably boost the underground business and we would have smoking speakeasy's popping up everywhere.

They just passed a new law here which forbids smoking within 20 feet of any public area/building entrance. It's going to be interesting.

Good sign of the times.
