Both photos meet the challenge, although the second is borderline.

I find the first photo to be rather uninteresting. The composition leaves something to be desired. Zooming in on one of the signs would have been much better. There is too much of the building that does not contribute anything to the shot.

In the second photo, either you are playing tricks with us or that is just the front end of a Rolles Royce with nothing behind it. Which is it?

Ouch, Cal. Try going back to bed and getting up on the other side.

The second shot is an actual shot taken with a 10-22 wide angle lens. I was kneeling so as to emphasize the grill. I posted it because there is, indeed, a sign - in the dealer window. So, what's "borderline" about it?

Sorry you don't like the post. Maybe others will.

I saw the sign on the window.. I thought it was creative.. didn't say the sign had to be the primary subject

Although not explicitly stated (Walter is going to call me on this!) it is assumed that the primary subject of the photograph is the challenge subject.

BTW, Walter, I didn't get up on the wrong side of the bed. I got up on the wrong side of the rock. (Referring to those caveman ads on tv for Geico insurance).

OK, time to move on.

Walter,

I guess being from a British background the iconic Rolls Royce emblem/sign was immediately noticeable.

In any event, the frame around your picture complements the Rolls quite nicely.

I am taking up a collection for someone to go to the "How to win friends and influence people" seminar.
