Perhaps part of one of those water pitchers with the filter in it.

Okay, back from shopping and I see no one has figured it out yet. It was kind of tough if you haven't dealt with these before.

It's an impeller from an aquarium filter system. I had three sitting on my kitchen window sill waiting to be cleaned up. Here's a page that shows an assortment - http://www.petmountain.com/category/...impellers.html

I guess I went from too simple (the candy in the candy dish and the frost on the window) to this. I'll try to find something in between next.

There were some interesting guesses.

Well I was close, butthat only counts in horeshoes and hand grenades. I knew I had seen that somewhere before. I have quite a few aquariums. Great post.

Sorry about that nighfighter. I can't figure out how these messages are posted. I had gone to my last post when I got home last night and continued reading and saw that no one had it. I guess I see now that you posted 4 minutes before me and it hadn't shown when I posted mine.

So, you were very close. Congratulations. I said it would probably only be recognizable by someone who cleaned them. We have three in the house. One has gold fish left over from my son's turtle that had to be set free. It was a snapper and growing to large for the 20 gallon tank. The other has my husband's pet sun fish. He uses it to determine when to go fishing when the weather is warmer. And, the third is empty right now.
