So, this is a real challenge to my mind - what is it, that the girl holds on her hand here? As I said in the description - this is a rather rare view. You might have done this by yourself but never noticed But enough of these hints... have a look and guess:

Well, it looks like mercury but that is a very toxic substance to be playing with.

Like CalI was at first going to say mercury but the meniscus doesn't quite look like that of mercury and as he indicated it is also very toxic since it does premeate thru the skin on contact.

It's got to be water under a certain condition.

Is it Silly Putty heated to near liquid? The reflections and light distribution at the edge of the substance are very confusing.

You got it! This is an air bubble!

We were at some kind of exhibition where you could do your own experiements and that plays with optics here. A transparent bowl with water and mirrors so you could see the water surface from below and could also catch some air in your palm.

I choosed to post here because "when will you ever come so CLOSE to air that you can actually take pictures?"

The setup you describe is amazing. It also explains why some of the hand is fuzzy.

Very clever....I was going to say mercury...but also was going to say be careful it is very toxic. Now I can see that it was taken under water..... as I said, very clever!!:?
