I couldn't get a clear shot of the plane so I tried to use the chainlink fence to frame it.

I agree with Vanessa, neat shot. I can tell from your photo that you were not right up against the chain-link fence. I have found that if you get right up close and personal with the fence fabric (read that touching) you can probably eliminate the fence from the picture and get the shot you were trying for. This is where a uv filter on the front of the lens is a must to protect the lens.

I have shot many photos though chain-link and they turned out great and I use lenses that are physically large. We're talking 67mm, 77mm, 80mm filter ring sizes. By getting right up against the fence, the fence fabric either doesn't show or it is so far out of focus that it shows as a slight clouding at the edge of the picture.

Love the framing. In this case I think the chain link adds to the shot.

I'm with selvin. I like it with the fence. It kind of frames the plane. I may even have cropped a little less.
