So when are fences in the way? Depends on what you are doing.
On one hand, the fence allowed me to get up and personal with this porcupine, but on the other hand, it does not add to the picture.
Some times you just have to take it anyway.

Interesting but true comments about fences. As photographers, fences are sometimes our friend and more often, our foe. You have done well to capture this prickly individual.

When we went camping in central Oregon this past summer, one night just at bedtime, two of these critters were spotted prowling the campground. I saw one of them but was a good distance away. We made sure the dog stayed inside the tent and all the tent doors and windows zipped shut. Talking to other campers the next morning, apparently nobody got to close!

I like this picture. The fence sort of emphasizes the nasty looks of the animal.
