This is a picture of a grave from Boot Hill just outside Tombstone, AZ. The graveyard was opened in 1878 and closed in 1884. Around 300 people give or take a few were buried there - most diedfrom violent deaths. The graveyard was abandoned in 1884 and grew into disrepair. In the 1940's the graveyard was repaired. The original markers were of wood and rotted. The present day markers (from the 40's) are the replacements made as close as possible to the originals using town records and the local newspaper "The Tombstone Epitaph". This one is one of my favorites.

That looks like something you might see in Knotts Berry Farm in Los Angeles or any Wild West theme park. Great shot but not so great for the unfortunate victim!

Yes. It is a bit contrived looking but still a historical landmark. I hesitated submitting it but there it is.

I am confused here. Do you have two login names? The picture was posted by "yesterday" and now "karenlandry" claims the photo. Who is the owner and what is going on here?

I meant to be known only as yesterday but I am karenlandry. Perhaps I filled out the member form wrong. How can I find out?

I just checked the members list and you have two profiles, "yesterday" and "karenlandry". I don't have privileges to remove accounts but if you click on JinC or Kalypso in the moderator list at the top of the page and then click on "Send Private Message", one of them can help remove the unwanted account. They are system administrators and have superuser privileges over the entire forum system.

Tombstone marker set to rhyme
Ol' George, we hardly knew ya
In the wrong place, at the wrong time
Now, Glory Hallelujah!

Big mistake, George, what the heck
But steps we since have took
We hung the noose around the neck
Of the real, authentic crook

(We hope)

Very good. Is your George the same as mine?

It was fresh from my twisted mind, just for you.
