Finally got into town at night to get an image of a neon light.

Here was my first shot that was a mistake. I hadn't changed the settings on the camera from the last shot. But, I'm posting because I prefer it over the second one.

I hate to say it but I prefer the second one. The first is underexposed. You could probable lighten it in PS. In the second one, the exposure on the neon sign is perfect. Where is the white light on the sign coming from? Is that your flash?

Yes, the exposure is spot on in the second shot. Good job.
We have only one Olive Garden here that I know of and it's ALWAYS full with people waiting outside.

I'd have to go with the 2nd one also. Cal the lighting looks to be of an outside sign with 2 ground mounted spotlights illuminating it from below if you look at the crossed shadows above the neon.

Thanks everyone.

Cal, the lighting is indeed coming from spotlights on the ground as GoCubs said. I was amazed it came out as well as it did. It was about 15ºF out and I didn't have my gloves on. I was alsotrying to finish before my husband filled his gas tank.

And, yes, we've never eaten at that one, but it was very busy. I was standing on the median in the middle of the road which was about 10" wide and had cars going by me on both sides periodically.
