The first is from a waterwheel fountain that froze in the last cold snap.

The second is JFK's eternal flame.

I love that first shot. The colors and exposure are perfect. I love the ice on the wheel.

I have two questions about the second. First, could you get any closer or zoom in closer? The flame is not really visible. Second, is that actually the gravesite of Kennedy or is it just a memorial marker? I don't know the answer.

Cal

P.S. One last question--Where is the neon? Your description on the subject line says neon sign!

Daz,

Iagree with Cal, the first shot is a superb example of a natural ice sculpture.

The second shot has me befuddled also. I'm assuming you meant this to be in the category "Unusual Gravestone Marker." I though JFK was buried somewhere in Arlington.

Daz, Love the waterwheel photo! Cal, Selvin, this is the actual gravesite of JFK. This photo brings back memories for me, my dad took us to D.C. to visit this site in the spring of 64. It looked more like a traditional gravesite then. They have made it more formal over the the years.

Selvin, you are correct.JFK's gravesite is in the Arlington National Cemetery, as shown in #2. That's Arlington, Virginia not Texas (if that is what was creating the confusion). It is on the Virginia side of the Potomac River and overlooks DC.

And I really like the waterwheel.

So sorry. A thousand pardons. The reason for my mistake was I was rushing and I made a cut and paste error. It was suppose to be Ice and Grave. I shall endeavor to not make that mistake again.

Thanks everyone for the comments on the ice waterwheel. I do like that one myself. I am glad that it turned out well as I was freezing standing out beside the road getting the long exposures. I think the drivers thought I was nuts.

As for the JFK grave Cal, yes that is the grave. I did get closer but in the daylight it is very hard to see the flame. With all the people on this weekend it was kind of hard to take photos to try and get things like that to show up. In fact up close I think the gravesite is kind of boring. So I walked around looking for a more interesting photo. I was at Arlington on memorial weekend and in the DC area at that time of year you get this haze. The best I could come up with is this photo about half was up the hill to Lee's house with the Washington and Jefferson memorials in the background.

Garlam, if you have close up photos and the moderator do not mind I don't mind if you post them.
