This is an old train. If someone did try to fire it up to get steam out of it the most likely thing it would do is blow up.

This is a new trolley car. You can give it a new name and paint job but it is still a slow train to nowhere. There is only so much you can do with an old clanker.

In that first shot, if you tried to fire up the boiler, the burning fuel would probably fall through the bottom of the firebox. The water for the boiler would also end up on the ground. There would be no danger of an explosion since it would be impossible to build up any steam pressure! Other than that, it is in good shape.

In the second shot, I don't understand your comments about the streetcar. It looks like a very modern streetcar to me. Here is a photo of a Portland Streetcar of the exact same model. It is only about three years old.

Daz,

The locomotive looks good from the outside but Cal seems to think it couldn't develop a head of steam.

Both shots are interesting.

The first one has character - the second one is nice, but no character. That's the advantage of a rusty old locomotive.
