This is the oldest church in the capital of Quito, it dates back approximately 500 years. Here is the detail above the main door.

Any idea what the sculpture detail celebrates? Looks like the ascension of Christ into heaven.

Very well done. These would make excellent documentary photos for use with an article on the structure. Although the second photo does not show the entire building, I does show how the first shot relates to the entire building.

Thanks all for the comments. I'm not much into history, so I can't comment on the structure. We were only one day in the city, and much was forced at us.
