The Romans built this coliseum on a mountaintop high above Taormina in Sicily. This is a shot of the tunnels underneath, where the gladiators must have made their preparations and said their prayers.

Here I am standing above the coliseum. The opening to the left of my head may have been where the combatants (lions or Christians?) made their entrance.

That first shot looks very familiar. I think whe have seen it in a previous challenge. This is a great pair of shots illustrating the concept of using a closeup to emphasize or illustrate a feature in the broader shot. Good work.
