Closer to home, the First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie has the tallest steeple in town -- if bragging rights matter. Here is the base of the steeple.

Used the 70-200 2.8L on the steeple, and the 24-70 2.8L on this full shot.

Very nice! Beautiful blue Texas sky! I've seen specks like that before on my photos, looks like it's time to get out the sensor swab.

To be honest I would have tried to get even closer - if neccessary with a crop, like this one:

The "surprise" effect when showing the wide shot would be increased that way

Also I would have never thought of such a detail on a church. It looks more like a window/door from a french or italian palace to me.

Good idea, thkn777, hadn't though about cropping that one.

That first shot reminds me of Knott's Berry Farm in Los Angeles (don't recall specific city) Just across from the entrance to Knott's is a 2/3 replica of Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed. The tower is very similar.

Your shots are great but I also like the suggested crops.

Cal, you're right, it does resemble the Knott's Berry Farm building!
