This is the South wing of Angkor Wat, in Cambodia. Virtually evey square inch of stone in the building is adorned with intricate relief sculpture. The next image, shows a maiden, one of approximately 3,000 in the structure. This is the only one with even a hint of a smile. (you'll need to look carefully.)

If my memory is working, this structure was built in the 3rd to 5th century AD. While not exactly "habitable", it is still standing.

Beautiful shots! a couple friends went to Angkor Wat earlier this year and one got hospitalized for heatstroke, but they had an amazing time while it lasted!

I can imagine that this place can be very dangerous in bright sunlight without any shadows - phew!
