When I enteredthis small street today a single redeye was watching me, it looked like this:

This is a closer look:

This is the control for a roadblock - only allowed persons with a keycard can enter, which results in the lower green light flashing.

Happy easter!

Very interesting. I have seen various methods for controlling access but not like this. How does the key card work. Is it inserted in a slot on the signal or is there a box that is used before you get to the signal.

Nice shots!

Cal

Hi Calr,

pheww - I am so lucky that I can salvage some quick shots to answer your question:

1 - that's the whole construction: at the right side the control unit, on the left the roadblock itself (in german I'd say "Poller", no idea what it's called in the UK or US, maybe you can help here)

2 - how the control unit works: I'd say with a magnetic keycard by the looks of it

3 - closeup of the roadblock: notice the red LED's! The "black holes" between the row of red LED's aren't holes (that's what I thought first at least), I'd say these are green LED's that flash when the roadblock moves into the ground or rises to block the road. (so whenever the keycard is in effect to say so)

Thanks for comments and looking

The eye-like red lamp of the control unit really had something of a cyclops eye - you won't believe how your attention was drawn to it when you came around the corner!

Th.
