First off, you need to understand that there is no contest going on here. There is no winner or I guess you could say we are all winners, some for the knowledge they pick up here and everyone for the opportunity to see some great photos.

Yes, this photo qualifies. I am wondering why it is so dark. It appears overcast and perhaps late in the day. On the other hand, your meter may be playing tricks with you. I think I would have spot metered on the tree trunk to bring out more of the detail.

(edit) Apparently you edited your message while I was typing my response.

Nuts, I thought of maybe shooting up a tree last night. Oh well, great minds think alike. Neat shot.

Smitty, there's no rule that says more than one person can shoot the same thing. If you were planning on shooting up a tree, do it! I'm sure everyone would like to see what you come up with.

Spiderdan, what is OIC? We don't speak texting here.

Thanks for all your replies.
OIC is just oh I see, I was in a hurry to fix my silly question . I don't make a habit of speaking "texting" here perhaps with the exception of this and a couple "LOLs" (laugh out loud).
Smitty, don't be put off by my picture please, as every photo is unique.
Also, I merely darkened the picture in PS; my main colour printer prints slightly darker than what I see on the screen, but this shot in high-res, on glossy paper, seems to look good (sorry for lack of modesty) with being dark. Not so great on the screen , but always worth a try.

EDIT: oh and since the odds are you'll read this cal, I looked at your photos

I love them!

Thanks Spidey. I used to always include the link with my signature but it got to be too much bother. The forum software use to have the ability to have a canned signature that could be applied to all messages but (sigh) no more.

I noticed the lack of an automated signature feature, but maybe it caused viewing problems or posed a security flaw? I agree, it is a shame.
Anyway it's half past one AM here in Scotland, so I'll reply to all other replies (if there are any) in the morning.
