It's Captain Nemo's trident. I am curious about the setup here. The pole, if that's what it is, is much brighter at the bottom than the top. Can you describe what we're seeing and how you shot it.

A real high-tech lighting setup, lol. I had a Ryobi flashlight sitting below pointing up to the trident, which is mounted horizontally on an antique board hanging on a wall. The light saturation, and subsequent shadowing, are created by the angle of the light. The camera was located at about a 30 degree angle along the axis of the light. However, this item, actually used by my great grandfather, never visited the salty depths inhabited by Neptune.

Interesting shot, I like the shadow

My only complaint is the DOF - I would like to see a version with the trident itself and especially the part in the foreground would be inside the DOF.

Hummm, almost looks like a frog gigging spear head, or fishing spear head.

BTW, for those of you who've neverworked youraround a farmpond at night, illu minated only with a carbide light, this is an old-time frog gig.

(I only did it once when I was a kid. My fear of water moccasins was not assuaged by the casual manner in which my grandfather and his buddies were tossing them out of the way. "No thank you, sir. I can't gogiggin' again this weekend. I got something to do, or at least I'll find something.")
