Here is a rocky beach scene on the north shore of Maui just off of the Hana highway. If you ever get to Maui, be sure to take the Hana highway tour. It is a narrow road with numerous sharp switchbacks and steep cliffs but the scenery is spectacular.

Now I see why people flock to drive the Hana road. I've been living in the islands over 30 years and never been on that road.

Guess I need to fix that. Nice framing job with the branches.

Well, you see, there was a very strong tide that day....but it passed! I think the gods that control the tides know when you are trying to shoot a beautiful work of Pele, the volcano god. Anyway, all is well now as can be seen above. (Translation: BS --> English: I straightened the picture!)

Note--If the image still appears tilted, clear your browser cache. You are still seeing a cached copy of the original image.

Nice shot Cal. This is a great example of framing. Notice how the lines of the trees seem to follow the lines of the rocks. The left hand tree traces the contour of the rocks below it's main branch and the tree on the right points straight up and leaning to center just like the rock below it. Pretty cool!
