Just a fast point-n-shoot of this little guy behind my hose reel.

OK, I was walking around the yard, picking up stuff (sticks, tennis balls from the dogs, stuff like that) in preperation for mowing the yard. I was looking around a saw this weed (some kind of vine I have been fighting to get rid of for years) through the swimming pool handrail. This Shoot Out came to mind. Had I been inches either way, I would not have seen it, or it would not have been framed and I would most likely thought nothing of it. I can't say it is a real interesting subject, I just liked the color.

I think the first shot is the best. I like candid shots of small birds.

Technically, speaking, the second shot is great. This has nothing to do with photography but that weed looks like a seedling of a red-leaf maple tree. Do you have any such trees in your yard or close neighbors. They are quite prolific and their little winged seeds germinate quite easily.

Fofa,

The bird's peekaboo pose in the first shot adds quite an impact.

I'm a bit ambivalent about the second not because it doesn't qualify or anything like that. I wish the steel pipes composing the frame were a tad more in focus I guess.

If you hadn't mentioned that it was an obnoxious weed no one would have known. Remember, "A weed is nothing more than a plant in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Aloha and thanks for sharing.
