thats one heck of a straight line! tell me, are those names of people carved into the wood? if so, whats the significance please?

Hurricane Bob destroyed the original boardwalk in 1991. To rebuild the boardwalk they sold planks. The planks have the names of those who contributed to the boardwalk.

Very cool. Does the boardwalk go through a nature area? along the coast? Love the effect of the lines.

Yes, the ocean is over the sand dune. The wind can get quite wild here. You'll notice there are no handrails on the majority of the board walk....I really felt a strong gust would send me over board.
