This is far from a perfect photo (I suspect the autofocus locked on the middle player), and I'd like to say I train my players to act in this disciplined of manner all the time, but I'd be lying. However, the result is an interesting line.

I think the photo looks great. The lines in the background gives a feeling of speed and you can see the concentration on the players faces.

I agree with "yesterday". So many compelling images are not perfectly focussed, or are grainy (in the old days of fast B&W film). It's the image itself that make for a great photo. I like this one a lot!

It's unanimous. The less than perfect technical qualities do not significantly distarct from this photo.

I guess I'm a detractor as I don't care for this photo. Nothing in it appears clear to me. There is a sense of motion in the players but there seems to be motion in everything. The "lines" don't do it for me. In my opinion this photo does not meet the challenge.

Cal, i'm with you on your overall opinion on the piece- a bit too blurry for my taste- but i think there's a very obvious line in the players' formation, no?
