Positioned strategically in the gap between the Purbeck hills, it was perfect for defending inland Dorset against attack from the sea. Corfe Castle was begun by William the Conqueror soon after his arrival in Britain in 1066.

Outstanding shot, Bill. I really like looking at photos of historical ancient structures.

There is a minor problem with your posting. The white text does not show well against the pale blue background unles highlighted. There are three color schemes available for displaying the forum. You are probably using the default which is mostly black. If you go to My Account-->Profile-->Preferences, you can select the color scheme. Click the drop-down box on "Board Themes". There you will see "Default, Default2, and Shades". I use Default2 which uses a dark blue for the board background and pale blue for forum background. Default uses different colors but it is a light colored background with black text. Shades is mostly black. Experiment with it to see which you like the best.

Cal
