Out shooting birds this morning and a couple suggested themselves for this challenge. The first is a piggish mockingbird who had crammed his mouth with two berries before perching in the top of a small tree.

Purple martins will build nests anywhere they can find a hole that they consider safe. In this case, the nest is inside a large light standard just outside the center field fence of a softball field. Mom was kept busy all morning running insects to the little ones inside.

(BTW, for those not from the South, most people here are quite happy to have martins nesting nearby because of the number of insects they devour, particularly mosquitos.)

The first one like like a shot right out of an Audubon Society book. Great work on both.
