Here are a couple of shots I took last week while I was in California:

This first shot is a tool shed of sorts at a vinyardsomewhere near Freemont (I think)

This is from the fisherman's warf in Santa Cruz. That sure is an awesome town.

Both are straight out of my brand new Pentax K100. I have to say, I am very pleased with it.

The vignetting in the second shot is because I left the lens hood on when I zoomed out to 18mm. oops.

Well, since there are no vents on top and no holes in the door, I think we can safely say that the building in the first shot is not a "loo"! Excellent photo. The colors and composition are great. The same goes for the second shot.

While in Santa Cruz, did you get to the Boardwalk or a few miles east to the Roaring Camp Railroad? Both are fantastic places.

I did get to go to the Boardwalk. In fact, you can see it in the second picture if you look through the triangle the beams that make up the wench form. I even got to ride the Giant Dipper (oldest rollercoaster on the west coast) a half dozen times!

Oh! There was a woody show on the warf 2 days after I left! I was a little put out. That would have been really cool to see.

That's what I've heard. Pentax's backwards compatibility was a factor for me in deciding to go with this brand. However, I've had the camera for 3 weeks, and don't have any older K mount lenses to test the theory with.

Great shots zack. I really like the composition of the second shot.

Yes, the K100D can use all Pentax K-mount lenses, as well as M42 screwmount lenses, with an adapter. I have a A 50mm/1.4 for my K100, and it works flawlessly. I certainly saved more than a few dollars over the cost of buying the same lens in an AF design.
