I'm taking a photography class right now and this past week's lesson was portraits. This is one from my homework assignment.

I see...so you want our comments before you get critiques in class! I understand.:lol:

Well, I think this is a nice photograph. For a portrait, however, I think I would zoom in a little more so that you have more people than tree. You have some nice lines working here. The three people form a diagonal and you have the lines of the tree. You have the gentleman with the brightest shirt in the front. I think I would change the order by swapping the two gentleman or move the lady to the front put the brown shirted gentleman in the middle and the white shirt to the rear.

That's my opinion and I know absolutely nothing about portrait shooting! I am simply stating what I think would look better.

Thanks for the critiquing, Cal.

I had tried rearranging, etc because of the white shirt. Including asking him to take the shirt off. But, he had a black tank top underneath  Probably should haveswitched him and Robbie.

My mom wants a photo of David and Alicia only, so I'll probably be going back to get just them, as I like this location for a portrait. I will zoom in closer next time, too. Also, pay more attention to what they are wearing next time. You made some good points.
