Here's the roof-fund-raiser, accompanied by my son in green, descending from the ridge near our home to the soggy farmland for the last 9 miles...

...and here, astonishingly, is the pile of goodies presented to us by the fund-raiser's mother, for our little bit of support. She insisted that this was stuff other folk had given her - Will & I said the money should have been spent on the roof, and "we did it because we wanted to!"

Alan,

Dandelion and Burdock wine! Never heard of those flavors before. I do concur with you that the gifting for helping seemed a bit overdone.

Nice vertical shot of the hiking adventure. Been watching the news of soggy UK, hope you haven't been severely damaged.

Aloha

Not wine; it's a fizzy soft drink. It was a UK favourite in my childhood 45 years ago (in returnable, reuseable bottles!), that seems to have returned in upmarket foodstores.

Thanks, Selvin. We're fortunate to live on a hill, but road travel was severely disrupted for a day round here. We get frequent harmless flooding 5 miles away in the Dee valley. Over in Yorkshire they've had a disaster by UK standards.

I posted a pic you'll have seen in this forum 3 yrs ago at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=85, and last December I got these.......

All the best, Alan T
